  7. Description
  8. G3Throttle is a Control Strip Module to control the PowerPC750's Instruction Cache Throttling Control(ICTC) register.
  9. It is controlling the interval at which instructions are fetched into the instruction buffer in the instruction unit.
  10. This helps control the PowerPC750's overall junction temperature & electric power cost(reduce battery consumption).
  11. It is also reduced performance.
  12. Though it helps resolving a hardware problem caused by too fast action.
  13. (e.g. visioneer PaperPort Strobe, Apple GeoPort Telecom Adapter, Avid Cinema, PalmPilot)

  15. Installation
  16. To use this module, place it into the Control Strip Modules folder in the System Folder and restart.

  18. Instructions
  19. - To chose the ICTC parameter(wait) that is displayed, click on the module in the Control Strip and select a wait option from the popup menu.
  20. The decrease in temperature, consumption of electricity, performance is proportional to the value of selected wait.
  21. - The "0 wait :  ChargerConn" option sets the wait value to zero(full-throttle) when connected battery charger, to return to normal performance.
  22. - The "ProcessorCycling" option sets the Processor Cycling to on.
  23. - The "ProcCycl : BatteryUsing" option sets the Processor Cycling to on when operating on battery power, to reduce battery consumption.

  26. G3Throttle is sharware. G3Throttle is copyrighted software and is freely distributed.
